ESDM-4 · Enhanced Smart Display Module

Modernize the Alpha XM2. Preserve your investment.

A modular upgrade that extends the Alpha XM2 platform with XM3-class intelligence and support for modern battery chemistries.

The ESDM-4 is Trivision’s proprietary upgrade module for the Alpha XM2 CableUPS. It replaces the original 2-line LCD with a 4-line daylight-readable display, moves input and output voltage configuration to a menu-driven interface, and adds native support for 36V LiFePO4 and Super Capacitor battery systems alongside the platform’s existing lead-acid and AlphaCell chemistries. It is available as a self-installed kit for in-house deployment, or as a complete refurbished and upgraded unit — installed and validated by Trivision and returned ready for field deployment.

The upgrade at a glance

Existing XM2 chassis and power train are preserved. The upgrade replaces the display module, the configuration workflow, and the platform’s battery-chemistry support.

Before — Original XM2

2-line LCD displaying one parameter at a time. Input and output voltage configuration via internal dip switches.
→
After — With ESDM-4
4-line daylight-readable display with a soft-key menu system. Voltage configuration is fully menu-driven — no dip switches required.

What the upgrade delivers

A complete summary of the capabilities the ESDM-4 introduces to the XM2 platform.
□

4-line daylight-readable LCD

A larger, brighter, white-backlit display replaces the XM2’s original 2-line LCD, providing clear legibility in direct sunlight and inside shadowed field enclosures.
≡

Menu-driven configuration

Input and output voltage settings are configured through the on-screen menu with automatic detection on power-up, eliminating the need for internal dip-switch adjustments.
⚡

36V LiFePO4 battery support

Native compatibility with 36V LiFePO4 battery packs — a chemistry not supported by the standard XM2 or XM3. Pre-configured charge profiles are included.
◈

36V Super Capacitor support

Pre-configured Super Capacitor management for operators transitioning to supercapacitor-backed sites. Also introduced on the XM2 platform through this upgrade.
◱

Consolidated home screen

Power, battery, communication, and operation mode statuses are presented on a single screen, with input and output voltage and current visible at a glance.

▤

Per-string battery voltage

Individual battery-string voltages are displayed when paired with a supported transponder, covering A/B/C/D strings and B1/B2/B3 batteries per string.

↻

Multi-stage charging

Programmable, temperature-compensated charging — three stages (Bulk / Accept / Float) for SLA, two stages (Bulk / Accept) for LiFePO4. Bulk charge current of 10 A at 80% load and nominal input.
🔔

Major and minor alarms

Power-related and battery-related alarms are indicated on the LCD and the front-panel LEDs, with detailed information accessible through the same keypad.
↔

Uninterrupted transfer

Line-to-standby transfer is uninterrupted, with no output interruption during transition. Output frequency stability is maintained at ±0.05% across 60 Hz and 50 Hz operation.

Custom battery profiles

Battery configurations are stored as named profiles on the ESDM-4 and selected by field technicians directly from the on-screen menu. No manual entry of parameters is required at deployment.

How it works

Battery specifications — voltage per cell, capacity, charge parameters, and temperature compensation — can be configured directly on the unit through the display at deployment. Trivision also offers a pre-configuration service: share the specifications of the batteries your operation uses when placing an order, and the ESDM-4 will ship with your profiles preloaded under your own naming convention. This is provided at no additional charge and is available with both the DIY kit and the fully upgraded unit.
Named profiles selectable on-screen
Field-configurable through the display
Optional pre-loading by Trivision
No additional charge
Recommended for operators standardizing on specific battery models across a fleet: technicians select the profile by internal name rather than re-entering parameters at each site.

Two ways to deploy the ESDM-4

The same upgrade is available through two delivery paths, allowing operators to select the option that best fits their internal capacity and deployment model.

Self-install kit

ESDM-4 Enhanced Smart Display Module Kit

A complete self-installed upgrade kit that includes the ESDM-4 module, front-panel keypad, ESDM label, and full installation documentation. Designed for operators with in-house technical resources to perform the upgrade on their existing XM2 hardware, either in the field or at the depot.

  • Deployed on the operator’s schedule
  • Compatible with any existing Alpha XM2 chassis
  • Recommended for operators with dedicated technical teams
  • Detailed installation documentation included

Turnkey service

ESDM-4 Upgraded XM2 Power Supply

A complete refurbishment and upgrade service. Ship your XM2 units to Trivision; each unit is bench-tested, refurbished, and returned with the ESDM-4 upgrade fully installed and validated — ready for immediate field deployment.
  • Complete refurbishment and upgrade delivered as a single service
  • Every unit is bench-tested prior to shipment
  • Recommended for operators managing large fleets or with limited internal technical capacity
  • Well-suited to high-volume refurbishment programs

Transponder compatibility

The ESDM-4 has been formally tested for compatibility with the transponder cards deployed on the XM2 platform in production networks.

Alpha transponders

Local web page (general, power supply, communication), SNMP data display, self-test, CM MAC/IP, downstream and upstream frequency, transponder model and software version — verified across the following:
